Quantrill allowed a run on three hits and struck out two without walking a batter over 3.1 innings in a no-decision versus the Angels on Saturday.
Analysis
Quantrill threw just 46 pitches (31 strikes) before getting pulled when he ran into trouble in the fourth inning. There was no reported injury after the game, so this currently appears to be just a curious managerial decision. Quantrill has allowed just one run in three of his last four starts, but he hasn't logged more than five innings in any of those outings. Quantrill (3-4) earned the win Sunday against the Rays, allowing one run on two hits and two walks over five innings. He struck out six.
Analysis
Quantrill matched his season high with six punchouts, including an immaculate fourth inning in which he struck out the side on nine pitches. He stymied the Tampa Bay lineup, not allowing an extra-base hit and conceding his lone run on a Yandy Diaz groundout in the third. After pitching to an 8.10 ERA across his first 26.2 innings, Quantrill been sharper over his last three appearances, firing a 3.14 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 13:5 K:BB over 14.1 innings. He is currently slated to make his next start at the Angels next weekend.
