Nabs hold in season Dodgers debut

Stewart earned a hold against Tampa Bay on Sunday, allowing one hit in a scoreless inning of work.

Analysis

Stewart began his career with the Dodgers but spent the past two-and-a-half campaigns in Minnesota. The Twins traded the veteran reliever back to Los Angeles on July 31, and Stewart made his 2025 debut with his new club Sunday. He handled the eighth inning in a close two-run game and worked around a two-out single by Junior Caminero to finish with a scoreless frame. Stewart's usage in his first game back with the Dodgers suggests he'll immediately be looked to for high-leverage work in a setup role.

Traded back to Dodgers

The Dodgers acquired Stewart from the Twins on Thursday, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.

Analysis

It's a homecoming of sorts for Stewart, who was drafted by the Dodges and spent his first three-and-a-half seasons with them in a swingman role. Stewart is now 33 and has struggled with injuries, but he's been healthy this year outside of an early-season hamstring issue and has posted a 2.38 ERA and 41:11 K:BB over 34 innings. He is under team control through 2027.
