Cracks homer in return
Nimmo went 2-for-5 with a three-run homer and an additional run scored in Friday's 7-3 win against Miami.
Analysis
After missing Thursday's game to due illness, the 31-year-old outfielder tattooed a 390-foot, three-run homer off reliever George Soriano for his first long ball of the second half. Perhaps this performance can spur on Nimmo, who entered this game with a .140 (12-for-86) batting average in 23 games since the All-Star break. Overall, the nine-year vet is now slashing .228/.343/.405 with 17 homers, 68 runs scored and 70 RBI across 508 plate appearances this season.

Back in lineup
Nimmo (illness) is batting third and playing left field Friday against Miami.
Analysis
Nimmo didn't play in Thursday's game against Oakland due to the stomach flu, but he's feeling well enough to suit up and start Friday's series opener. The left fielder is 0-for-13 with four walks, a run scored and an RBI across his last four games.

Battling stomach flu
Mets manager Carlos Mendoza said that Nimmo is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Athletics due to a case of the stomach flu, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.
Analysis
Mendoza noted that Nimmo was unable to get much sleep Wednesday night due to the ailment, so the Mets will hold him out of the lineup as they wrap up their series against Oakland with a day game. Jeff McNeil will pick up a start in the outfield in place of Nimmo, who has gone 3-for-32 with 11 strikeouts over his last nine starts to bring his batting average down to .226 for the season.

Sitting amid slump
Nimmo is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Athletics.
Analysis
Nimmo received a day off last Thursday in Colorado after he had gone 2-for-16 over his previous four starts, but the veteran outfielder doesn't seem to have benefited much from the break. While starting in each of the Mets' ensuing five games following the day off, Nimmo went 1-for-16 with four walks against six strikeouts. Nimmo doesn't appear to be in danger of losing hold of his everyday role in the New York outfield, but his .171/.271/.244 slash line since the beginning of August could nonetheless put him at risk of being held out of the lineup more often.
