Lands on injured list
Atlanta placed Riley on the 10-day injured list Saturday with a right abdominal strain.
Analysis
Riley's abdomen forced him to make an early exit during the fourth inning of Friday's contest, and now that further evaluation has confirmed a strain, he'll remain on the sidelines until at least July 22. Nacho Alvarez will come up from Triple-A Gwinnett to replenish Atlanta's infield depth, though Luke Williams is the most likely option to take over at third base until Riley returns.

Pulled due to injury
Riley was removed from Friday's game against the Cardinals with lower-abdominal tightness.
Analysis
Riley went 1-for-2 with an RBI and a run scored before being lifted for a pinch hitter in the fourth inning. The severity of his injury remains unclear, but if he's forced to miss any amount of time, Luke Williams would be the favorite to pick up reps at the hot corner.

Slugs 14th homer
Riley went 2-for-5 with a double, a two-run home run and a second run scored in Wednesday's win over the A's.
Analysis
The third baseman took Mitch Spence deep in the second inning, staking Atlanta to an early 6-0 lead. Riley appears to be kicking off his usual summer surge -- he has a career .955 OPS in July, the highest in any month for his career, and his .867 mark in August is second -- and over his last 10 games he's batting .333 (14-for-42) with four homers and two homers. On the season, he's up to 14 home runs and 47 RBI in 91 games with a .274/.324/.441 slash line.

Power perking up
Riley went 2-for-5 with a double, a home run and three RBI in Saturday's loss to the Orioles.
Analysis
The third baseman launched a two-run homer off Dean Kremer in the first inning. although the lead didn't last long for Atlanta. Riley snapped a 13-game homer drought with the blast, but his power was showing signs of returning before Saturday -- over his last 12 contests, he's slashing .292/.333/.479 with four doubles and a triple among his 14 hits. On the season, Riley's up to 13 home runs and 45 RBI in 88 games, but a .761 OPS would be his lowest mark since 2020.
