New Tiering Test & Clues Update

New Tiering Test & Clues Update

Sorare Team
May 7 · 6 min read

As we shared in previous communications, we have been considering updates to card tiering to improve the crafting experience. Sorare Set allowed us to test a new system focused on the utility and on-pitch performance of players, and the results have been very encouraging.

We want to take advantage of the final Game Weeks of European football to test this experience on Sorare Pro and gather data and feedback ahead of Sorare 27. We strongly believe this new approach will address many of the frustrations Managers occasionally experience with crafting.

Alongside this change, we are also introducing a new Clues system in which clues are scarcity-specific, rather than relying on the current complex cost system.

The updates will go live on Wednesday, May 13th. You still have a few days to craft with the current setup.

In this blog post, you will find all the details on the new tiers, new crafting odds, and new scarcity-specific clues, including how existing clues will convert.

New Tiers

Crafting will now rely on the following tiers for each league, similar to what is already in place on Sorare Set:

⭐ Reserve (based on time & appearances) 0 minutes played in the last 3 matches, OR less than 50 total minutes played in the last 10 matches.

⭐⭐ Roster (based on time & appearances) At least 50 total minutes played in the last 10 matches, and at least 1 appearance on the pitch in the last 3 matches.

⭐⭐⭐ Key (based on time & appearances + score)

Playing Time (Field players & Goalkeepers):

  • At least 500 minutes of playing time in the last 10 matches, and at least 1 appearance on the pitch in the last 3 matches. OR
  • Fast track: at least 60 minutes of playing time in at least 2 of the last 3 matches.

Score:

  • Field players: average score greater than 55 points in the last 10 matches.
  • Goalkeepers: average score greater than 50 points in the last 10 matches.

⭐⭐⭐⭐ Star (handpicked)

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Icon (handpicked)

The full list of Icons and Stars for each league is available in this blog post. We will update these tiers as needed to keep them accurate.

Please note that the automated tiers (Reserve, Roster and Key) are updated daily.

The new tiering system is designed to be transparent, straightforward for Managers to understand, and to accurately reflect on-pitch performance. Stars and Icons are handpicked to ensure they always include the best and most desirable players for each league.

Unlike Sorare Set, Stars and Icons are not differentiated in Sorare Pro crafting. There are no dedicated odds or special craft categories for Icons (which only represent around 4 players per league). The best odds and special pulls apply to the combined Star + Icon pool, comparable to the current T0 pool. That also means that when you use the ‘Highest Tier’ Clue and you have either a Star or an Icon in your draw, it will indicate that your draw contains a 4 or 5 star player, as those two tiers are not differentiated, as explained.

Crafting and Pull Updated Odds

We are updating the odds distribution in draws to align with the new tiering and to reflect the data we have gathered over this first year of the new crafting system.

Please note that the figures below are part of the test and may be adjusted as we gather more data and feedback.

Other Information

  • This new tiering applies to Limited, Rare, and Super Rare cards. Unique will continue to feature its own specific tiering as it does today.
  • The cards currently distributed through the Classic Leaderboards (All-Star, U23, and Champion) will keep the current tiering (T0, T1, T2) for the rest of the season.
  • As a reminder, your current 2026 Essence will be converted into 2027 Essence before the start of next season. The conversion will follow a degressive rate applied across all scarcities, with exceptions for leagues that will be mid-season. Full details, along with a conversion simulator, are available in this blog post.

Scarcity Clues

Starting Wednesday, May 13th, clues will become scarcity-specific. This will simplify the current system and give us more flexibility and accuracy to reward clues through gameplay and promos.

Rest assured, your current clue balance will not be lost. It will be converted into the new scarcity-specific clues, with the distribution based proportionally on the scarcities you play the most. If you’d prefer a different breakdown, a dedicated page will let you adjust the conversion and choose the mix that best fits your needs.

The conversion rate will reflect the cost of using a clue in each scarcity.

Example: If you have 8 Reveal League Clues, you can choose to receive 8 Limited Reveal League clues, 4 Rare Reveal League clues, 2 Super Rare Reveal League clues, or 1 Unique Reveal League clue. You could also choose to receive 4 Limited Reveal League clues and 2 Rare Clues.

We are also updating the clue storage caps. Going forward, you will be able to hold up to 50 Limited clues, 30 Rare and Super Rare clues, and 20 Unique clues. If your balance exceeds the cap after conversion, you will keep all your clues, but you will need to use some to drop below the cap before you can get new ones.

As announced in our last AMA, Sorare 26 clues will not expire at the end of the season, you will keep them for Sorare 27.

What’s Next

We will be closely monitoring this test and your feedback throughout the remaining Game Weeks.

A Double Up promo is live right now, a great opportunity to stack Essence ahead of next week’s crafting update!
