The Spurs have taken a cautious approach with Vassell, who underwent offseason surgery to address a lingering foot injury, and he'll likely remain in a 25-minute role off the bench while sitting out at least one-half of back-to-back sets moving forward. Analysis
Vassell led the team with a season-high total from the second unit. His numbers are tending up after a five-game absence, and although his injury struggles have kept him out of the starting lineup, he's adjusting well to a sixth-man role in the short term. Stephon Castle is playing well enough to keep Vassell in the second unit, but the latter occasionally plays alongside Castle at the wing in certain situations.

Analysis
Making just his sixth appearance of the regular season, Vassell matched his season high of 21 points. The Spurs have been extremely cautious with Vassell thus far, limiting his minutes and holding him out for at least one game during back-to-back sets. It's fair to expect that to be the case for the foreseeable future.
