Ramping up throwing program
Yesavage (knee) threw a 30-pitch bullpen Thursday and is scheduled for another session in Toronto on Sunday, Mitch Bannon of The Athletic reports.
Analiz
If all goes well Sunday, Yesavage could make a rehab outing with Triple-A Buffalo and return to the majors for the final week of the regular season. The 23-year-old right-hander continues to recover from meniscus surgery that he underwent Aug. 11, and his return would be a welcome one for the Blue Jays considering both Shane Bieber (shoulder) and Jameson Taillon (elbow) are on the IL and Arrighetti's struggles since being acquired by Toronto from Houston in early August.

Close to facing hitters
Yesavage (knee) is expected to face hitters in live batting practice Thursday, MLB.com reports.
Analiz
Yesavage checked out fine following a 23-pitch bullpen session Friday and is set to throw off a mound again Monday before advancing to facing hitters. Assuming the young right-hander steers clear of any setbacks in his recovery from meniscus surgery as he moves through his throwing program, he should be on track to return from the 15-day injured list before the end of the season. However, Yesavage likely won't be stretched out enough to handle a traditional starting role once he's activated and could act as more of an opener or get deployed in a piggyback arrangement with another pitcher.
