Resting up Wednesday
Edman is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Twins.
Analiz
Since being activated from the 60-day injured list June 16, Edman has gotten off to a nice start at the plate, going 8-for-22 with a 2:4 BB:K through his first six games. The Dodgers are being mindful of not overextending Edman following a lengthy absence, so he'll continued to have his workload managed before he moves into more of a full-time role. After Edman started the previous two nights, he'll get a chance to rest Wednesday while Alex Freeland takes his spot in the lineup at second base.

Taking seat Sunday
Edman is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Orioles.
Analiz
Edman will hit the bench after he started each of the past three games -- two at third base, one in left field -- while going a collective 5-for-12 with a double and a walk. His clearest path to regular playing time could eventually come at second base, where Alex Freeland (.649 OPS over 174 plate appearances this season) has been serving as the Dodgers' primary option since being called up from Triple-A Oklahoma City on May 27.

Three hits Friday
Edman went 3-for-5 with a double in Friday's 6-5 win over the Orioles.
Analiz
This was Edman's second game in the lineup since he recovered from ankle surgery he underwent in November. The utility man was held hitless Wednesday in his season debut. He got the start in left field and played the full game Friday, which is a positive sign. The Dodgers will likely take it slow in building up his workload, especially since the team has few weak spots in the lineup. Left field could be his best path to playing time, at least until Teoscar Hernandez (hamstring) returns, as the combination of Ryan Ward and Alex Call isn't particularly exciting. When the Dodgers are healthy, Edman is likely to overtake Alex Freeland for the starting job at second base.

Hitless in return
Edman went 0-for-3 with a walk in Wednesday's 5-4 win against Tampa Bay.
Analiz
Edman made his season debut following a long absence while recovering from last November's ankle surgery. He was unable to get a hit in first game back, though the super-utility man did draw a fourth-inning walk. Edman batted leadoff and played third base Wednesday, but neither of those situations are likely to stick. Shohei Ohtani got the day off as a hitter and is likely to return to the top of the batting order for Los Angeles' next game, and Max Muncy -- who pinch hit for Edman in the seventh frame Wednesday -- is the Dodgers' primary third baseman. Edman should still see ample playing time, with much of it coming at second base and in the outfield.
