Johnson overcame a pair of home runs to log a quality start Wednesday. The 24-year-old right-hander is building a compelling case to be part of the Angels' future pitching plans -- he's posted either a quality start or given up two runs or fewer in all seven of his starts since being recalled from the minor leagues in early August. He'll look to further improve a 5.12 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 63:39 K:BB over 84.1 innings this year in his next scheduled outing versus the Mariners.

Johnson (3-8) took the loss against Pittsburgh on Friday, allowing one run on four hits and two walks while striking out six across six innings.

Johnson gave up an RBI double to Jake Mangum in the second inning, but it was an otherwise strong performance from the right-hander, who logged his third quality start of the season and second in his last three outings. Unfortunately for Johnson, his Angels teammates couldn't get on the board, leaving the 24-year-old to take the loss.
