Cleared for rehab games
Stowers (hamstring) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Jacksonville on Friday, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.
Analiz
Stowers will play for Jacksonville on Friday, take Saturday off and then return to action Sunday for the Jumbo Shrimp as he eases back into game action following a right hamstring strain. The 28-year-old will take over in left field when he's ready to rejoin the Marlins, but Stowers is also under consideration for reps at first base.

Taking reps at first base
Stowers (hamstring) has been doing fielding drills at first base while getting ready to begin a rehab assignment, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.
Analiz
The 28-year-old was a Gold Glove finalist in left field last season so a permanent position switch is unlikely, but the Marlins are looking for answers at first base after Christopher Morel (oblique) also landed on the IL right before Opening Day. "It's definitely a possibility," manager Clayton McCullough said about the chance Stowers sees time at first base when he's healthy. "I spoke with Kyle about this in November, over the offseason, that as much I value and we do as an organization, positional flexibility and optionality, Kyle potentially had a skill set to maybe do that." Four different players have already seen time at first base for Miami this season, and the position could remain a revolving door as McCullough mixes and matches his lineups depending on who's hot and who's on the mound for the opposition. Stowers could begin a rehab stint with Triple-A Jacksonville this weekend.

Nearing rehab assignment
Marlins manager Clayton McCullough said Wednesday that Stowers (hamstring) should be ready to begin a rehab assignment "soon," Kevin Barral of FishonFirst.com reports.
Analiz
Stowers went through a workout Wednesday -- which included some live at-bats -- and the Marlins will see how he bounces back before mulling next steps. McCullough also noted that Stowers could play some first base while on his rehab assignment and if he takes well to the position, he could be an option at that spot once he's activated from the injured list. Stowers has never played first base in professional ball but did handle the position a bit in the Cape Cod League and summer ball several years ago. The 28-year-old is working his way back from a right hamstring strain.
