Homers in return
Lowe went 3-for-5 with a solo home run and two additional runs scored in Thursday's 8-3 win over the Blue Jays.
Analiz
Lowe landed on the injured list after straining his oblique Opening Day. The outfielder was eased back into action as the designated hitter Thursday, but he'll be a welcome addition for the Rays, who are battling numerous outfield absences. Lowe also hit leadoff, where his speed on the basepaths should be fruitful once he's back in a rhythm. The 27-year-old hit .241 with a .693 OPS over 106 games in 2024, but he hit .292 with an .835 OPS, 20 home runs and 32 steals in 2023, so there's significant potential here if he can put it all together.

Activated from 10-day IL
The Rays activated Lowe (oblique) from the 10-day injured list Thursday. He will start at designated hitter and serve as the Rays' leadoff batter in the team's series finale in Toronto, Ryan Bass of FanDuel Sports Network Sun reports.
Analiz
The Rays had been expected to wait until Friday to activate Lowe, but with Travis Jankowski (groin) landing on the IL, the club has brought back Lowe a day early. Lowe has been out since late March after straining his oblique Opening Day, but he looked sharp in six rehab games, hitting two home runs and stealing one base with a 6:7 BB:K. Though the 27-year-old will be eased back in Thursday as the team's DH, he should eventually settle in as the Rays' regular right fielder against right-handed pitching.

Tracking toward return this weekend
Lowe (oblique) could be activated from the 10-day injured list ahead of the Rays' series in Miami against the Marlins this weekend, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Analiz
Lowe has gone 2-for-9 with a 4:3 K:BB in his first three rehab games with Triple-A Durham. He will remain with Durham for a couple more days before rejoining the Rays' active roster this weekend if all goes well. Lowe has been out since late March after suffering a Grade 2 right oblique strain Opening Day.
