Hit hard in loss
May (6-9) took the loss Sunday against the Rangers, allowing four runs on six hits and three walks while striking out four over 4.1 innings.
Analiz
After a scary one-pitch outing Wednesday, May returned to the mound Sunday but struggled to limit hard contact, with five of the six hits he allowed going for extra bases, including a solo homer by Ezequiel Duran in the third inning. It was just the third long ball May has surrendered over his last 10 full starts, but he's posted a 5.40 ERA during that stretch. May owns a 4.69 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 122:45 K:BB across 128.2 innings this season, with his next start tentatively scheduled for Saturday against the Reds.

In clear to start Sunday
May (shoulder) is listed as the Brewers' probable starter for Sunday's game against the Rangers at American Family Field.
Analiz
May will be returning to the hill after he threw just one pitch in his start Wednesday before being drilled in the upper back by a 106-mph comebacker. The right-hander escaped with nothing more than a contusion and was able to play catch Thursday. He'll be making his fifth start with the Brewers on Sunday, going 1-1 with a 5.87 ERA and 1.37 WHIP over 15.1 innings in his first four outings since being acquired from the Cardinals at the trade deadline.

Could slot back into rotation Sunday
Brewers manager Pat Murphy said Thursday that May (shoulder) could start Sunday's game against the Rangers, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
Analiz
May had to be removed from Wednesday's start against the Mets after throwing just one pitch due to a liner that struck him in the upper back/shoulder. He managed to escape serious injury and was able to play catch on the field Thursday. If May continues to recover as anticipated, he should be ready to take the ball Sunday on three days' rest.

X-rays negative
X-rays on May's shoulder came back negative following his removal from Wednesday's game against the Mets, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
Analiz
May took a 106-mph line drive off the back of his shoulder and had to leave his start after throwing just one pitch. He seems to have escaped the incident with nothing more than a bruise, however, and because his outing Wednesday was so brief, he could be back on the mound for Milwaukee within a few days after his soreness fades.

Hit by comebacker, leaves game
May was removed from Wednesday's game against the Mets after getting hit on the back by a comebacker, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
Analiz
May's first pitch of the game came right back at him at 106 mph, striking him in the back. He managed to throw a few warm-up pitches afterward, but the Brewers' training staff ultimately made the call to take the 28-year-old out of the game. Because he threw just one pitch Wednesday, he could return to the mound to make his next start within the next few days, but the Brewers will first need to confirm he didn't suffer a severe injury.
