Goes on IL with fractured finger
The Red Sox placed Hamilton on the 10-day injured list Thursday with a left index finger fracture, Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com reports.
Analiz
Hamilton suffered the injured when he was hit by a pitch in Wednesday's game against the Blue Jays and subsequent X-rays revealed the fracture. It's not clear how much time he might miss, but it figures to be longer than a minimum IL stay. Nick Sogard is taking Hamilton's spot on the roster and will be an option for starts at second base along with Romy Gonzalez and Mickey Gasper.

Exits Wednesday's game
Hamilton was removed from Wednesday's 3-0 win over Toronto after a pitch hit him on the fingers while attempting to bunt, MLB.com reports. He finished the game 0-for-4 with a run scored.

Hamilton reached base on the bunt attempt via a fielding error by catcher Alejandro Kirk and scored on Tyler O'Neill's home run.
