Tosses five scoreless innings, earns win
Bello (6-7) earned the win Monday against the Angels after allowing four hits and two walks while striking out seven over five scoreless innings.
Analiz
Bello returned to the rotation for his first start since June 4 and delivered five shutout frames. His biggest test came in the third when Los Angeles loaded the bases with two outs, but Bello retired Moises Ballesteros to escape without damage. The right-hander recorded his seventh career scoreless start, but it remains to be seen whether he'll stay in the rotation since he'd been thriving out of the bullpen as well. Bello owns a 2.03 ERA and 1.03 WHIP over 62 innings as a reliever, yet he's stretched out enough to mix between both roles down the stretch if the Red Sox need him to do so.

Making start Monday
Bello will start Monday's game against the Angels.
Analiz
Despite thriving out of the bullpen this season with a 2.03 ERA and 1.03 WHIP over 62 innings, Bello will be deployed in a traditional starting role for the first time since June 4. In his prior eight starts, Bello has struggled mightily, logging a 10.35 ERA and 2.22 WHIP. Bello threw 69 pitches in his most recent relief appearance and threw 94 in the outing prior to that, so he's stretched out enough to provide significant length.

Likely to pitch in bulk role Monday
Bello is expected to be used as a starter or bulk reliever in Monday's game against the Angels at Fenway Park, Ian Browne of MLB.com reports.
Analiz
Interim manager Chad Tracy is likely to lean heavily on Bello as the Red Sox look to build in an extra day of rest for their rotation. Though Bello has been tagged for eight runs over 7.1 innings in his last two relief appearances, he's performed well on the whole this season out of the bullpen, turning in a 2.03 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and 14.6 K-BB% across 62 frames.
