In between each start, Martinez was given days off, as the Guardians continue a measured ramp-up to nine innings for the outfielder. Martinez made his second apperance while on rehab assignment and played six innings. He's appeared in games Friday and Sunday, both times in the outfield. The Guardians plan a gradual ramp up to a full nine innings and possibly want to see him play back-to-back days before bringing him back to Cleveland.

Martinez, who began a rehab assignment with the Clippers, was slated to play five innings, per Tim Stebbins of MLB.com, but the game was suspended due to rain. He did not participate in the game when it continued Saturday. Cleveland manager Stephen Vogt said the outfielder came out of the game feeling good. The Guardians plan to take it day-to-day with Martinez as he ramps up to a full workload. The club could use most of the 20 days allotted for position players on rehab assignments.

Martinez hasn't played since June 13 due to a broken left foot but will see five innings of action Friday. Martinez had been filling an everyday role in the outfield for the Guardians prior to his injury and has slashed .239/.276/.442 with 11 homers, 33 RBI, 28 runs scored, nine stolen bases and a 7:53 BB:K across 243 plate appearances this season.
