Lands on injured list
The Tigers placed Mize on the 15-day injured list Friday with right adductor inflammation, retroactive to Thursday.
Analiz
Mize left his start against the Angels on Wednesday with groin tightness, and although an MRI didn't reveal a strain, he'll still end up on the injured list while the Tigers treat his inflammation. Beau Brieske (thigh) was activated from the 60-day IL in a corresponding move, though it remains unknown who will take Mize's place in Detroit's rotation.

Mize (groin) played catch Thursday and is still waiting on the results of his MRI, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.

Mize was forced to depart Wednesday's outing against the Angels after four innings due to right groin tightness. It's a good sign that he was feeling well enough to play catch a day after the injury, but a determination on a possible injured-list stint for Mize won't be made until his MRI results are in.

Mize made it through four shutout innings Wednesday, striking out six batters while allowing just two hits and a walk. However, he was seen heading back into the clubhouse with a trainer and didn't come back out for the fifth. The severity of the 29-year-old's injury remains unknown, but the Tigers could have an update on his status in the near future.
