The Future Of Fantasy Football

As announced in our product roadmap back in February, which sparked our new era into life, August would see our complete transition to our new gameplay built on two key competition formats: In-Season (2024-25) competitions and Classic Season competitions.

Get ready. Here are our core competitions that will run during the 2024-25 season:

What is new in 2024-25?

On top of Champion, Challenger and Contender, we will now have three permanent league-specific competitions across the 2024-25 season:

• Premier League
• LALIGA 
• Bundesliga

Your eye for talent is rewarded: U23 Update
The much-loved competition will get its own Classic-Season formats with muli-entries across our Division structure. U23 player Classic Season cards can also be played in In-Season competitions using the ‘Classic Season’ card slot.

Your Progression is Rewarded: Essence
Your journey is rewarded on Sorare 2024-25. For the first time ever, In-Season (2024-25) and Classic Competitions will reward Essence through Reward boxes. With enough Essence you can craft In-Season cards in your Card factory. The higher the division, the better the box quality, the higher the amount of Essence you receive on average.

The first Game Week to reward Essence through Reward boxes is the Challenger competition for the Game Week that opens for submission on July 23. 

On July 23rd, you will see a full breakdown of Reward box probabilities in the product.

Following a brief testing period, we will move the Essence threshold for T4+ cards from 40 to 50 on July 23rd.

If you’ve collected Essence during the European Championship and Americas Competition, your opportunity to craft players from a prize pool of players that featured in International squad at these events is closing soon (Wednesday, 17th at 12:00 CET). To learn why and more about Essence, see here.

Our Biggest Special Weeklies

Of the $15M, around 10% can be won across Special Weekly cash prizes in the 2024-25 season. This is on top of card rewards, VIP tickets, jerseys and amazing once in a lifetime experiences.

In 2024-25, our Special Weeklies will make sure that we celebrate scouting and that there is fun for everyone.

Expect 10 Special Weeklies in August including All Star, Capped modes, Specialists, Score thresholds, and brand new rules! You, our community, will also get to vote on the next Special Weeklies you’d like to see.

As promised, we will run a Medal Special Weekly around the International Games this summer. We will share the Special Weekly rules next week. 

In-Season Competition Prize Pools (2024-25)

Here is what In-Season offers during the 2024-25 season:

🤩 We’re rewarding a minimum of $15M in cash prizes from August to early June across 2024-25 season competitions*.

🎖️ Podiums are bigger than ever. The 2024-25 season ensures that the top Managers are rewarded with the biggest cash podium prizes we’ve ever seen*. 

🧪 The top 50% in each Division will win a Reward Box. Upon launch, Reward boxes will contain Essence or Market Credits. Market Credits are exclusive to Reward Boxes won in In-Season Competitions.

🔓 Thanks to Early Access cards, you can immediately compete for top cash prizes in 2024-25 In-Season competitions. Get ready for the new European season with Sorare’s first-ever Early Access cards landing on the market before the leagues kick-off!

Contender: Early Access Cards coming soon

Early Access cards will land on the market next Wednesday at 14:00 CET. This gives you more than two weeks to build your In-Season lineups before the first Contender Game Week with Early Access cards.

In the 2024-25 season, we are not renewing our partnerships with the following Contender clubs:

We will of course continue to cover competitions that we have previously covered where we no longer have a licensed clubs (eg. LALIGA2) .

To protect our interests and partnerships with clubs, we are unable to comment in more detail on the status of our partnerships with the above clubs. We will also welcome a small number of clubs in the coming months. We will give you as much notice as possible so that you can prepare for the arrival of these new clubs.  

Small Patch Update for Friday 16th August

As a reminder, we will make no major changes to your gameplay experience outside of our July-August and January Gameplay Update windows. As our commitment to our Managers, we will always give you ample time ahead of any updates to your gameplay.

On Friday 16th August we will make the following updates: 

Super-Rare & Unique Collection Bonus improvements
We are making some tweaks to our Collection Bonus in the two top scarcities. Here is what will change:

All uniques will now have #1 serial collection bonus (+30pts).

Super Rare Collection bonuses:

4th Threshold (500pts): Was +4% now +5%

5th Threshold (750pts ): Was +5% now +6%

Uniques Collection bonuses move  :

4th Threshold (500pts) : Was +4% now +6%

5th Threshold (750pts ) : Was +5% now +8%

Along with the introduction of Essence to prize pools, these changes further increase lower tier card utility, fun and strategy to the higher scarcities.

Sub Scores: Scoring Matrix change
On Friday August 16th, we’re increasing the starting score for a player that is substituted during a game from 25 points to 35 points.

This scoring rule was originally introduced following our original scoring matrix model in 2019. With the substitute feature becoming more popular in Rivals, we have decided to make this change to make live interactions in our game even more engaging.

This change introduces a new fun strategy for Managers, with ‘super-subs’ becoming a more interesting prospect for your clubs and lineups.

What Division will my lineups start in?

We will carry over your Division lineup spots for the Premier League, Champion, Challenger, and Contender competitions.

For new competitions with Divisions, we will use the same Division placement rules that we used back in February to place Managers in LALIGA, Bundesliga and U23 competitions.

As a reminder of the rule:
Your first team has been placed in a Division based on your gallery strength for the specific competition. In this case, gallery strength is determined by the quality of the cards you own that are eligible for the competition: a Premier League Star card contributes more to your Premier League gallery strength than a Premier League Tier 3 card. Your gallery scores for LaLiga are locked on August 12th at 17:00 CET and for Bundesliga on August 19th at 17:00 CET. 

Your second team will compete in the Division directly below your first. if you submit a third team, it will compete in the lowest existing Division. 

In 2024, we will not penalise inactive lineups. You will keep your Division spot if you choose not to submit a lineup for a particular Game Week.

• Wed July 31st: Early Access Card Launch
• Fri August 16th: First Game Week with Early Access cards (EPL, LaLiga, Serie A, Ligue 1). Opens for submission August 13.
