Holmgren (ankle) is out for Sunday's game against the Spurs.

Holmgren exited Friday's win over the Hawks after notching seven points, four rebounds and three assists across 15 minutes, and the big man simply couldn't play through an ankle injury that was bothering him before the contest. It's unclear if Holmgren will have to endure a spell on the sidelines, but his next chance to play will come Monday against the Rockets in the second leg of a back-to-back set.

Sprains ankle, won't return
Holmgren will not return for the second half of Friday's game against the Hawks due to a left ankle sprain, Andrew Schlecht of The Athletic reports.
Análise
Holmgren appeared to tweak his left ankle early in the first quarter of Friday's game, but he played through the injury and finished out the first half. After the Thunder reassessed him during halftime, however, Holmgren will miss the rest of the game and will end his night with seven points (3-8 FG, 0-4 3Pt, 1-2 FT), four rebounds and three assists in 15 minutes. The Thunder will presumably put Holmgren through more tests Saturday before deciding on his status for Sunday's road game versus the Spurs. If Holmgren sits out Sunday, Isaiah Hartenstein will likely re-enter the starting five at center for Oklahoma City.

Green light to play Friday
Holmgren (calf) is available for Friday's game against the Hawks, Nick Gallo of the Thunder's official site reports.

Holmgren popped up on the injury report due to a right calf contusion, but it doesn't appear to be severe enough for him to be sidelined Friday. He has averaged 14.7 points, 8.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 3.3 blocks and 1.2 steals over 27.5 minutes per game in his six outings since returning from a right hip fracture.

Holmgren was a late addition to the injury report due to the calf contusion, which is a new injury for the big man. If the 22-year-old is sidelined, Jaylin Williams and Kenrich Williams are candidates for an uptick in playing time. Over his last five outings, Holmgren has averaged 16.8 points, 9.2 rebounds, 3.2 blocks, 1.6 assists and 1.0 steals across 28.6 minutes per contest.

Holmgren finished Wednesday's 129-121 victory over the Nets with 22 points (7-12 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 6-7 FT), 17 rebounds, four assists, three blocks and two steals over 32 minutes.
Análise
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led the way in scoring for the Thunder, but there's no question Holmgren had the best all-around line, as he recorded at least two tallies in each of the six major categories, including three-pointers made. Holmgren, who missed the second leg of the back-to-back set against the Timberwolves, is averaging 14.7 points, 8.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 1.2 steals and 3.3 blocks per game since the beginning of February.

After posting 19 points, four rebounds, one assist and three blocks in 28 minutes during Sunday's 130-123 win over Minnesota, Holmgren will take a seat for the second half of a back-to-back set. The third-year big man isn't expected to play both halves of back-to-back sets anytime soon, and his production, outside of blocks, has been down since he returned to action at the beginning of February.
