First career multi-homer game
Saggese went 2-for-3 with a pair of home runs, a walk, three RBI and three runs scored in Tuesday's 13-8 win over the Dodgers.

Saggese secured the first multi-homer game of his career. The infielder is making the most of a decent share of playing time since rejoining the Cardinals on Friday, going 5-for-8 over three contests. Saggese is batting .226 with a .664 OPS, three homers, seven RBI, 14 runs scored, two doubles and one triple over 91 plate appearances in the majors this season.

Saggese went 3-for-4 with two runs scored in Sunday's 5-4 loss to the Pirates.

Saggese got the start at shortstop Sunday after JJ Wetherholt (wrist) landed on the injured list. A natural second baseman, Saggese has a path to playing time on the left side of the infield while Wetherholt and Blaze Jordan (ankle) are sidelined. It may end up becoming a platoon situation somewhere for the right-handed-hitting Saggese, while lefties Cesar Prieto and Nolan Gorman could see more opportunities against right-handed pitchers. For the year, Saggese is batting .210 with a .560 OPS, one home run, four RBI, 11 runs scored, two doubles, one triple and one stolen base over 87 plate appearances in the majors.

The Cardinals recalled Saggese from Triple-A Memphis on Friday.

Saggese will rejoin the big-league club after spending over two months with the Triple-A squad in Memphis, where the 24-year-old has slashed .258/.340/.446 with 10 homers, 33 RBI and nine stolen bases over 249 plate appearances. The Cardinals placed Blaze Jordan (ankle) on the 10-day IL, creating the opening for Saggese on the active roster.
