Back in the closer role for the Dodgers with Edwin Diaz (neck) sidelined, Scott has successfully converted three straight save appearances since Tuesday. Manager Dave Roberts said Saturday that Diaz will handle a low-leverage role once he returns from the injured list, so it sounds like Scott has a real chance to retain the ninth-inning gig for the remainder of the regular season. The hard-throwing left-hander boasts a 2.24 ERA, 0.90 WHIP and 64:11 K:BB over 52.1 innings, collecting 19 saves (21 attempts) and 12 holds.

Scott picked up a save for the second day in a row, confirming that he'll be the primary closer for the Dodgers while Edwin Diaz (neck) is on the injured list. Scott was able to strand the automatic runner at second base in the 10th inning to earn his 18th save of the year. He's at a 2.28 ERA, 0.92 WHIP and 63:11 K:BB while going 18-for-20 in save chances while adding 12 holds this year.

Scott inherited a mess from Evan Phillips in the eighth inning but was able to get out of it. In the ninth, Scott gave up a run but maintained the lead to record his 17th save of the season. Edwin Diaz (neck) is back on the injured list after struggling mightily for a couple of weeks following his return from an elbow injury. Scott has had plenty of success in the closer role this year, and he's allowed just two runs over 11.2 innings since the All-Star break, collecting four saves and six holds in that span. If Scott continues to pitch well in the closer role, the job could be his even when Diaz is healthy again. Overall, Scott has a 2.32 ERA, 0.93 WHIP and 62:11 K:BB across 50.1 innings this season as one of the Dodgers' most reliable relievers, regardless of role.
