Could pitch next week
Manager Dave Roberts said Sunday that Ohtani (knee) could pitch in a game as early as next week, Dylan Hernandez of the California Post reports.
Análise
The right-hander threw 30 pitches in a session of live batting practice Saturday and has one more bullpen on the schedule before it's decided whether he needs another live session or is ready for game action, per Katie Woo of The Athletic. Ohtani hasn't pitched for the Dodgers since July 3 and was in the midst of a dominant campaign on the mound prior to his knee issues with a 1.79 ERA, 0.95 WHIP and 95:26 K:BB across 85.2 innings. He's continued to be a force at the plate with a .935 OPS through 20 games in August and is batting leadoff, per usual, Sunday against the Pirates.

Análise
Ohtani threw 30 pitches in what was his first live session since being shut down from pitching last month due to knee issues. Manager Dave Roberts said afterward that Ohtani will likely need another round of live BP before getting cleared to pitch in games, but the two-way superstar doesn't seem to be too far away from returning to the mound.

The superstar has made his presence felt with four homers and nine RBI over his last nine contests. He's batting .294 with a .948 OPS this season, to go with 80 RBI, 82 runs scored, 24 doubles, three triples and seven stolen bases. Ohtani also threw a bullpen session Tuesday as he continues to work his way back from knee issues that have kept him off the mound in game action since July 3.

Tossing side session Tuesday
Ohtani is scheduled to throw another bullpen session Tuesday, Jack Harris of the California Post reports.
Análise
Ohtani stated Monday that his knee felt healthy following Friday's bullpen session, and he's optimistic that the injury is a thing of the past. Assuming all goes according to plan Tuesday, the 32-year-old will continue to ramp back up as a pitcher with the hope of returning to the mound down the stretch of the regular season and in the playoffs.
