Lands on IL
The Giants placed Rodriguez on the 15-day injured list Tuesday, retroactive to Saturday, with a sprained right elbow.
Análise
Rodriguez was unavailable out of the bullpen for the past few days while battling an elbow issue he picked up during Sunday's win over Milwaukee. Manager Bob Melvin was hopeful the 25-year-old righty would be back in time for Tuesday's series opener against the Cubs, but the Giants will instead be without their primary closer until at least Sept. 7. Ryan Walker will presumably take over as San Francisco's preferred ninth-inning option for the short-term future, and Keaton Winn will come up from Triple-A to replenish the team's bullpen depth.

Dealing with arm soreness
Rodriguez was unavailable for Sunday's 4-3 win against the Brewers due to right arm soreness, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Análise
Rodriguez was tagged with the loss in Friday's 5-4 defeat in Milwaukee, and he apparently torqued something in his pitching arm in the process. Ryan Walker was called upon to protect the Giants' one-run lead in the ninth inning Sunday, working around a two-out single by Sal Frelick to earn a save. Rodriguez still appears to be in the driver's seat for the ninth-inning role with San Francisco, and he can be considered day-to-day ahead of Monday's off day.

Picks up loss Friday
Rodriguez (3-5) took the loss in Friday's 5-4 defeat to the Brewers, allowing one home run while striking out one across one inning.
Análise
Rodriguez entered the game with two outs in the eighth inning and struck out the first batter he faced. The 25-year-old retired two straight hitters in the ninth with the game tied at 4-4, but he gave up a walk-off home run to William Contreras. Rodriguez owns a 1.78 ERA, 0.89 WHIP and 67:11 K:BB in 50.2 innings across 50 games this season.
