Hits late homer

DeJong went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run and an additional run scored during Sunday's 11-9 loss to the Phillies.

Análise

DeJong tried to spark a comeback Sunday, tagging Max Lazar for a three-run home run in the bottom of the ninth to make it a two-run game. His long ball prompted the Phillies to insert closer Jhoan Duran, who immediately shut the door. DeJong has been on a heater recently, having hit five home runs in his last 10 games and going 12-for-39 (.308) during that stretch.

Keeps raking

DeJong went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and an additional run scored during Thursday's 3-2 win over the Phillies.

Análise

DeJong's power surge persisted Thursday, lifting his fourth home run of the last eight games. The veteran infielder had just one homer in 95 plate appearances before the streak. DeJong's long ball also extended his hit streak to five games, a stretch in which he's 9-for-21 (.429) with seven RBI and five runs scored.

Third straight multi-hit game

DeJong went 2-for-4 with a walk and a two-run home run in Monday's loss to the Royals.

Análise

Getting the start at third base, DeJong took Daniel Lynch deep in the fifth inning to provide the Nationals with their final offense of the night. DeJong has three straight multi-hit performances, with the prior two starts coming at second base while Luis Garcia was dealing with back tightness. Garcia returned to the starting nine Monday, but interim manager Miguel Cairo will be motivated to keep DeJong in the lineup given his hot bat -- over 40 plate appearances since the All-Star break, the veteran utility infielder is slashing .333/.375/.639 with two doubles, three homers, two steals and seven RBI.
