The Brewers will designate Rengifo for assignment prior to Tuesday's contest against the Guardians, Pat Ragazzo of Athlon Sports reports.
Análise
The Brewers need to free up a roster spot for Cooper Pratt, who will be called up for his major-league debut. Rengifo is slashing only .205/.280/.254 with zero home runs this season, and he's started just one of the last four games. With Pratt on the way and David Hamilton and Joey Ortiz also on the roster, Rengifo's playing time was likely to drop further. Rengifo is a safe bet to clear waivers and become a free agent, and if that happens, the Brewers will be responsible of what remains of his $3.5 million salary.

Rengifo will start at third base and bat fifth in Sunday's game against the Phillies.
Análise
Though he'll be part of the starting nine Sunday while southpaw Cristopher Sanchez toes the rubber for Philadelphia, Rengifo was out of the lineup the previous three games when Milwaukee faced right-handed starters or bulk relievers. Rengifo has gone just 4-for-24 (.167)over his last nine games and appears to have faded into a utility role, with Joey Ortiz regaining favor on the left side of the infield.

Rengifo will move to the bench to begin Wednesday's series finale after going 1-for-7 with two walks, a run and four strikeouts across the first two games. David Hamilton will shift to third base as a result, giving Joey Ortiz a start at shortstop.
