Marte went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run and a double in Tuesday's 5-3 win over the Rangers.

Marte has opened September with two homers in as many games. His blast Tuesday was the decisive hit, giving the Diamondbacks their first lead of the game in the seventh inning. He's now reached the 25-homer mark for the fourth time in his career, including each of the last three years. The second baseman has added a .292/.391/.537 slash line, 64 RBI, 77 runs scored, 22 doubles and four stolen bases over 106 contests this season. He's been the designated hitter for Arizona in four of the last five games, but it looks like manager Torey Lovullo will commit to keeping Marte's bat in the lineup while balancing playing time for other infielders.

Marte was back at second base after three games at designated hitter. He hasn't been reported to have an injury, and his recent string of games in a non-fielding role could simply be part of the plan to keep both Blaze Alexander and Jordan Lawler involved down the stretch. Marte's bat has been fine lately, as he's gone 11-for-41 (.268) over his last 11 games, but his homer Monday was his first extra-base hit in that span. For the season, he's posted a .290/.390/.527 slash line with 24 homers, 61 RBI, 76 runs scored and four stolen bases over 105 games.

Marte started at designated hitter for a third consecutive game and went 2-for-4 with two runs scored in Sunday's 5-4 loss to the Dodgers.
Análise
It appears manager Torey Lovullo is managing Marte, who has no reported injury. Tender hamstrings have been a recurring feature throughout Marte's career, and he missed a month of action earlier this season because of a hamstring issue. Having him DH appears to be a ploy that can get his bat in the lineup while also giving younger players, like Jordan Lawlar and Blaze Alexander, plate appearances.

Análise
Marte served as the DH for a second consecutive game, which could become a normal deployment over the final month of the season, per Alex Weiner of Arizona Sports. Manager Torey Lovullo indicated that Jordan Lawlar would stick at third base down the stretch while Blaze Alexander shifted into a super-utility player. That opens up the possibility of using Alexander at second base and reducing the wear and tear on Marte while maintaining his bat in the lineup as the DH. Additionally, utility infielder Ildemaro Vargas, who started at second base and homered Saturday, is also around to give Marte a break.
