Swipes base in win
Smith started at third base and went 1-for-4 with a stolen base in Monday's 7-3 win over Seattle.
Análise
Smith made a third consecutive start at third base, where he's filling in for the injured Josh Jung (calf). The steal was the third (caught once) over 42 games for Smith, who posted double-digit steals in each of the last two seasons. With both Jung and shortstop Corey Seager (back) on the 10-day injured list, Smith could see regular at-bats in the short term.

Making third straight start
Smith will start at third base and bat eighth in Monday's game against the Mariners.
Análise
The Rangers appear to have settled on Smith as the primary replacement at third base for Josh Jung (calf), who was placed on the 10-day injured list Saturday. Smith will claim a third straight start at the position, despite going hitless in six at-bats over the previous two contests. The 28-year-old could find himself as the odd man out for an everyday role in the Texas infield once one of Jung or Corey Seager (back) returns from the IL, as Ezequiel Duran and Nicky Lopez both seem to be ahead of Smith on the depth chart.

Starts Saturday
Smith started at third base and went 0-for-4 in Saturday's 7-1 win over the Mariners.
Análise
Smith was called up after Texas placed third baseman Josh Jung (calf) on the 10-day injured list Saturday. With both Jung and shortstop Corey Seager (back) on the shelf, there could be opportunities for the versatile Smith, who can also play the outfield. He shifted to left field Saturday when Wyatt Langford (ankle) was removed from the game.

Back with big club
The Rangers recalled Smith from Triple-A Round Rock on Saturday.
Análise
Since being optioned to Triple-A on July 9, Smith has gone 7-for-34 (.206) with two steals and one RBI. However, he'll return to the big club to fill the void on the 26-man roster left by Josh Jung, who was placed on the 10-day injured list due to a left calf strain. Smith will return to major-league action immediately, as he's starting at third base and batting eighth against the Mariners on Saturday.
