Idle against southpaw

Kim is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Giants.

Análise

After starting at second base in five of the Dodgers' past six games, the left-handed-hitting Kim will hit the bench Sunday while the Giants send southpaw Robbie Ray to the hill. Tommy Edman will shift over from third base to cover the keystone in Kim's stead.

Three hits, two steals in loss

Kim went 3-for-4 with a double, two stolen bases and one run scored in Friday's 8-7 loss to the Giants.

Análise

Kim delivered his first multi-hit effort since June 28 versus the Royals. The second baseman has picked up playing time at his natural position lately, with Tommy Edman shifting over to third base against right-handed pitchers to help cover the absences of Max Muncy (knee) and Enrique Hernandez (elbow). The left-handed-hitting Kim is at a .349/.389/.481 slash line with two home runs, 12 RBI, 17 runs scored and 11 steals across 113 plate appearances this season. Kim will likely continue to sit against left-handed pitchers, with Miguel Rojas entering the lineup at third and Edman at second in those matchups.

Sitting after three straight starts

Kim is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Brewers.

Análise

Though he will hit the bench Wednesday while the Brewers send southpaw Jose Quintana to the mound, the left-handed-hitting Kim's outlook for playing time versus righties seems to have improved with both Max Muncy (knee) and Enrique Hernandez (elbow) recently landing on the injured list. Kim had started in each of the Dodgers' previous three matchups against righties and went 1-for-11 with six strikeouts, though it's worth noting that Tommy Edman missed all of those games while nursing a pinkie toe injury. Edman is back in action Wednesday, so the final spot in the Dodgers' regular infield configuration against right-handed pitching may come down to either Kim or Miguel Rojas.
