Out Sunday
Lombard (knee) is out of the Yankees' lineup for Sunday's game with the Red Sox.
Análise
Lombard will get his first day off since being called up from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Aug. 4. The 21-year-old injured himself on a check swing during the nightcap of Saturday's doubleheader with Boston, and while his knee checked out fine structurally, he's managing some inflammation, per Meredith Marakovits of YES Network. Jose Caballero will take over at shortstop for the Yankees.

Injury considered day-to-day
Yankees manager Aaron Boone said after Saturday's 9-2 win over Boston that Lombard's knee injury appears to be a day-to-day situation, Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News reports.
Análise
Lombard picked up the injury on a check swing during the second game of Saturday's doubleheader. The Yankees are still evaluating the results of Lombard's imaging, but the initial signs indicate that the 21-year-old shortstop has avoided a serious injury. Lombard may be held out of the lineup for a couple of days while continuing to be evaluated, which would open the door to more playing time for Jose Caballero and Amed Rosario.

Exits Saturday's game
Lombard was removed from the second game of Saturday's doubleheader against the Red Sox due to right knee discomfort, Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News reports.
Análise
Lombard appeared to tweak his right knee during his plate appearance in the third inning on a check-swing. He stayed in to finish his at-bat before being replaced by Amed Rosario in the top of the fourth. Lombard will undergo further tests to determine the nature and severity of his knee injury, and the Yankees should have an update on the 21-year-old's status during or shortly after Saturday's contest.
