With Fermin opening Wednesday's game on the bench, Luis Campusano will serve behind home plate and bat eighth while catching pitches from Walker Buehler. Fermin has struggled at the plate this season, slashing .194/.333/.278 with two RBI and nine runs scored over 45 plate appearances.

Análise
After taking a foul tip off his catcher's mask and being forced out of Wednesday's 7-6 win over the Mariners, Fermin didn't appear in the Padres' subsequent two games. He returned to the lineup Saturday and caught all nine innings of the Padres' 4-1 win, going 1-for-2 with two walks and two runs. Fermin didn't experience any reported setbacks coming out of that contest, so he's presumably just getting some rest for a day game after a night game.

Análise
Fermin missed the Padres' last two games after taking a foul tip off his mask Wednesday, but he's been given the go-ahead to return behind the plate Saturday. The 30-year-old backstop hasn't found much offensive success in the early going, slashing .161/.270/.226 through his first 15 games.
