Shut down for week or more
Gomber (shoulder) won't throw for at least a week and won't pitch in a game for 2-to-3 weeks, per MLB.com.
Análise
Gomber was scratched from a scheduled rehab start Wednesday after experiencing soreness in his left shoulder. The veteran lefty began the season on the injured list, and given his current shutdown from throwing, it's unlikely he'll be ready to join Colorado's rotation until at least May. Gomber will need to log more rehab starts before he's ready to be activated, and Colorado probably won't be able to put together a timeline for his return until he's able to resume a throwing program.

Scratched from rehab start
Gomber was scratched from his scheduled rehab start at Triple-A Albuquerque on Wednesday due to left shoulder inflammation, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports.
Análise
Gomber began the season on the 15-day IL due to left shoulder soreness, so the fact that he's now dealing with inflammation in that area is a bit concerning. He'll presumably be re-evaluated to see if he suffered any structural damage after making his first rehab outing Friday, and it now seems unlikely that the 31-year-old southpaw will be able to return to Colorado after a minimum-length stay on the injured list.

Strikes out five in rehab start
Gomber (shoulder) struck out five batters and allowed two earned runs on three hits and two walks over four innings in a rehab start for Triple-A Albuquerque on Friday.
Análise
While tending to a sore left shoulder in spring training, Gomber didn't have enough time to get fully stretched out in advance of the Rockies' season opener and was placed on the 15-day injured list Thursday, but he was cleared to take the hill for Colorado's Triple-A affiliate on Opening Day. He tossed 66 pitches (39 strikes) in the rehab start, so he may need just one more tune-up outing with the Triple-A club Wednesday before getting the green light to return from the IL next week.
