Showcases defense in late start
Oubre logged 13 points (5-10 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 2-2 FT), five rebounds, four steals and three blocks over 34 minutes during the 76ers' 116-115 overtime loss to the Raptors on Sunday.
Analyse
Oubre was thrust into the 76ers' starting lineup minutes before the 6:00 p.m. ET tipoff after Paul George was scratched late due to a knee injury. While Tyrese Maxey (38 points) handled things offensively, Oubre stepped up in a big way on the defensive side of the floor, finishing with season highs in both steals and blocks. Oubre could remain in the starting lineup in Monday's rematch against Toronto if George is not cleared to return.

Analyse
Oubre had started in each of the 76ers' first 12 games of the season, but after missing 22 consecutive contests due to a left knee sprain before gaining clearance to play Wednesday, the veteran wing came off the bench and operated with a heavy minutes restriction. After averaging 16.8 points per game prior to getting hurt, Oubre took on a much more muted role on offense in his return, handling a season-low 8.8 percent usage rate. Oubre could still see his minutes and usage pick up a bit in future contests, but he'll likely struggle to return to his pre-injury level of production now that Paul George has been back to full health for a while now after he had been sidelined for the first 12 games of the season.

Oubre, who hasn't played since mid-November, is on track to return for Wednesday's game. Per Austin Krell of OnPattison.com, Oubre will be under a heavy minutes restriction if available. Still, he was playing very well before going down, so make sure he's not floating around on your waiver wire. Oubre's return will likely result in fewer minutes for Quentin Grimes.
