The 25-year-old forward continues to see elevated usage with Victor Wembanyama (shoulder) on the shelf. Johnson tied Stephon Castle for the Spurs' scoring lead Wednesday and has scored in double digits in five straight games, averaging 18.8 points, 3.8 boards, 2.4 assists, 1.4 threes and 0.8 steals in 26.4 minutes a contest without Wemby in the lineup.

With Victor Wembanyama (shoulder) lost for the season, there's a huge hole in the Spurs' offense, and Johnson has been the biggest beneficiary so far. The 25-year-old forward has scored at least 15 points in each of the first three games since Wembanyama went down, averaging 20.3 points, 3.3 boards, 3.3 assists and 1.7 threes in 26.3 minutes a contest while shooting an unsustainable 77.4 percent from the floor.

The 25-year-old forward led all scorers on the night, but it was in vain as De'Aaron Fox was the only other Spur to provide more than 10 points. Johnson could be one of the players who see their role and usage increase significantly in the wake of a season-ending shoulder issue for Victor Wembanyama -- after averaging just 15.4 minutes over the final five games before the All-Star break, Johnson has played at least 25 in the first two contests without Wembanyama in the lineup, averaging 21.5 points, 4.0 boards, 3.5 assists and 1.5 threes.

Analyse
Johnson and Julian Champagnie both led San Antonip's bench in scoring Thursday with 15 points each. While Johnson had slowly been receiving reduced playing time as of late, Victor Wembanyama being ruled out for the remainder of the 2024-25 campaign due to deep vein thrombosis in his right shoulder could open up more minutes for Johnson if the Spurs opt to utilize more small-ball lineups.
