Productive off bench in team debut

Alvarado made an immediate impact in his Knicks debut, reaching double figures and recording three stocks off the bench. In 41 games with the Pelicans this season, the scrappy guard averaged 7.9 points, 3.1 assists, 2.8 rebounds and 0.9 steals in 21.9 minutes per contest. While his role may fluctuate from night to night, Alvarado projects as a high-energy reserve capable of providing consistent defensive intensity for head coach Mike Brown.

Set to make team debut Sunday
Alvarado (recently traded) is not on the injury report ahead of Sunday's game against the Celtics.

Alvarado was acquired by the Knicks from the Pelicans on Thursday in exchange for Dalen Terry and two second-round picks. With the trade being finalized, Alvarado is on track to make his debut with New York on Sunday, and he could see a sizable role right out of the gate if Josh Hart (ankle) is unable to play. Alvarado was acquired by the Knicks at the trade deadline, but his debut won't happen until Sunday in Boston, at the earliest. With Miles McBride (abdominal) sidelined indefinitely, Alvarado is expected to slot in as the backup point guard behind Jalen Brunson.

The Pelicans traded Alvarado to the Knicks on Thursday, Shams Charania of ESPN reports. Dalen Terry and two second-round picks will head to New Orleans.
Analyse
Alvarado was heavily linked to the Knicks in recent weeks, so it's not a surprise to see this come to fruition. The Knicks do have a quality backup point guard behind Jalen Brunson in Miles McBride (ankle), but the latter has struggled to stay healthy. Alvarado will bolster New York's backcourt depth after averaging 7.9 points, 3.1 assists and 0.9 steals in 21.9 minutes across 41 regular-season appearances with the Pelicans. He's questionable to make his debut Friday against the Pistons.

Analyse
Alvarado saw at least 30 minutes for just the sixth time this season, although he failed to have any sort of tangible impact. While he does provide the Pelicans with an energetic on-court presence, his efforts often go unrewarded in terms of fantasy value.
