Acquired from the Warriors earlier this month, Kuminga wasn't cleared to make his Hawks debut until Tuesday after a lengthy recovery from a left knee bone bruise. Though he made just his third appearance since Dec. 20, Kuminga didn't exhibit any signs of rust and caught fire in the third quarter, when he poured in 18 of his season-high 27 points. With starting power forward Jalen Johnson (hip) exiting in the first quarter and not returning to the contest, Kuminga could be next in line to move up to the top unit if Johnson is unable to play in the Hawks' rematch with the Wizards on Thursday.

Kuminga hasn't played since Jan. 22 due to a left knee bone bruise but will be available to make his Hawks debut Tuesday. The 23-year-old forward appeared in 20 regular-season outings (13 starts) with Golden State before being traded to Atlanta on Feb. 4. With the Warriors this season, he averaged 12.1 points, 5.9 rebounds and 2.5 assists in 23.8 minutes per contest. It wouldn't be surprising to see Kuminga operate under a minutes restriction following the extended absence. Still, his return will leave fewer minutes available for the likes of Corey Kispert and Mouhamed Gueye.

The Hawks last reported that Kuminga would be re-evaluated one week from Wednesday, but it appears he could have a chance to return earlier than initially indicated. Anthony Slater of ESPN.com notes the expectation is that Kuminga will ultimately gain clearance to make his team debut, but he'll need to prove his health leading up to tipoff before officially receiving the green light.
