He's added five RBI and a 1:7 BB:K while seeing the bulk of the playing time at first base, though Tyler Locklear and Ildemaro Vargas are also in the mix for time at the position. Tawa turned on an inside sinker from Michael King and launched it into the left-field seats to give Arizona a 3-0 lead in the fourth inning. The utility man had gone 1-for-23 (.043) over his previous seven games before Monday's standout performance. Tawa had one of the two hits Arizona could muster on the day. His sixth-inning single snapped a perfect game bid by Cleveland starter Gavin Williams, who had set down the first 15 batters, including nine by strikeout. The hit came after Tawa fouled off a bunt attempt earlier in the at-bat, which goes against an unwritten rule in baseball, angered the Guardians and eventually led to a benches-clearing situation.
