A three-run homer by Trevor Story in the third inning was the biggest blow, and Woods Richardson didn't get a lot of help from his defense, but he dealt with traffic on the basepaths in every frame before mercifully getting the hook after 92 pitches (57 strikes). The right-hander has been tagged for 12 runs (11 earned) over his last two outings, and he'll carry a 6.10 ERA, 1.60 WHIP and 11:7 K:BB through 20.2 innings into his next start, which is set to come on the road next week against the Mets.

Analyse
Prior to his most recent start Friday in Toronto, Woods Richardson was feeling ill but fought through the ailment and took a loss while yielding five earned runs on six hits and one walk over four innings. The Twins never indicated that Woods Richardson was at risk of missing his next start, and he'll presumably be in better physical condition when he takes the hill for the fourth time this season Wednesday.

Woods Richardson did not feel well and vomited before trying to pitch through it during Friday's loss to the Blue Jays, Bobby Nightingale of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.

Woods Richardson apparently didn't eat fresh enough before the game, and while he rolled through the first three innings, a five-run fourth left him with a sour line for the game to go with his sour stomach. We suspect SWR will be fine by the time he's expected to make his next turn in the rotation, which lines up for next week against the Red Sox.

Woods Richardson was in control through the first three innings of Friday's game and took a 4-0 lead into the fourth. However, that's when things fell apart for the 25-year-old right-hander, who gave up five runs in the inning including a two-run home run to Brandon Valenzuela. Woods Richardson has yet to log a win this season, and through three starts he has a 4.60 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 8:4 K:BB across 15.2 innings. He'll look to earn his first victory of 2026 in his next start, which is slated for next week at home against the Red Sox.
