Looks good in bulk-relief role
Burke allowed three hits and struck out four across 7.1 innings during the Nationals' 2-1 extra-inning win over the White Sox on Sunday. He did not issue a walk.
Analyse
Bryan Hudson served as Sunday's opener, and Burke followed with seven-plus strong innings, yielding just three baserunners before being pulled in the ninth inning. It was Burke's best performance since his quality start against the Blue Jays on April 3, and he now sits at a 3.21 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 24:7 K:BB across 33.2 innings. His next turn in the rotation is next weekend on the road against the Padres, but it's unclear whether he'll operate behind an opener for that contest.

Working in bulk relief Sunday
Burke is expected to serve as a bulk reliever behind opening pitcher Bryan Hudson in Sunday's game against the Nationals at Rate Field, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports.
Analyse
Burke will be working behind an opener for the second time this season, after he previously covered six innings out of the bullpen in an April 3 win over the Blue Jays. By having the left-handed Hudson open the game, the White Sox will allow the right-handed Burke to begin his appearance with some easier matchups rather than having to face James Wood and CJ Abrams right off the bat.

Registers first win of season
Burke (1-2) completed six innings, allowing two runs on five hits and one walk while striking out three batters in a win over Arizona on Tuesday.
Analyse
Burke threw first-pitch strikes to only 10 of the 22 batters he faced, but he nonetheless managed to keep the Diamondbacks out of the scoring column until the fourth inning, at which point Chicago had given him a seven-run lead. The right-hander yielded another run in the fifth but nonetheless managed to pick up his first victory and second quality start of the campaign. Burke has mostly pitched well this season, allowing three or fewer runs in four of his first five starts. He's lined up to face Washington at home in his next outing.
