Recovering from Grade 2 thumb sprain
McMahon said that he was diagnosed with a Grade 2 left thumb sprain after the Yankees placed him on the 10-day injured list Friday, Randy Miller of NJ.com reports.

McMahon initially thought that he jammed the thumb when he slid into second base during the second inning of Wednesday's 5-3 win over the Orioles, but imaging Friday revealed a moderate sprain. Per MLB.com, manager Aaron Boone said that McMahon has a shot at returning in the minimum 10 days, though the 31-year-old would likely need to resume baseball activities within the next couple of days for that to be a realistic possibility.
