Handed loss in return
Lopez (4-4) took the loss against the Rays on Wednesday, giving up six runs on seven hits and three walks with five strikeouts in 4.2 innings.
Analyse
Lopez had a solid workload of 80 pitches as he made his first big-league start since late July after recovering from a bout of left knee inflammation. In just his 12th start of the season, the right-hander tied a season high with three walks while giving up his most runs in an appearance this year. Lopez now has a 4.13 ERA, 1.39 WHIP and 71:32 K:BB in 76.1 innings on the campaign. The 32-year-old is penciled in to make his next start against the Cubs next week on the road.

Activated ahead of start Wednesday
Atlanta activated Lopez (knee) from the 15-day injured list Wednesday.
Analyse
Lopez will rejoin Atlanta's rotation with a start Wednesday against the Rays. The right-hander has been shelved since late July with left knee inflammation, but he pitched well on a rehab assignment, collecting a 2.57 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 11:3 K:BB in 14 innings. Lopez threw 93 pitches in his last rehab outing, so he should be prepared to handle a normal workload versus Tampa Bay.

Locked in to start Wednesday
Lopez (knee) will return from the 15-day injured list to start Wednesday's game against the Rays in Atlanta, Chad Bishop of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
Analyse
Atlanta will keep a six-man rotation intact but will open up a spot for Lopez by shifting Bryce Elder to the bullpen, at least for the next week. Lopez will make his return to the big club after a strong showing in his three-start rehab assignment at Triple-A Gwinnett, during which he rung up a 2.57 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 11:3 K:BB in 14 innings. He tossed 93 pitches in his final rehab outing and shouldn't face any workload restrictions Wednesday, when he makes his 12th start of the season for Atlanta.

Rejoining rotation next week
Lopez (knee) will be activated from the 15-day injured list to make a start for Atlanta next week, Jesus Cano of The Athletic reports.
Analyse
If Lopez starts on five days' rest like he did in his last rehab outing with Triple-A Gwinnett, he would take the ball Wednesday at home against the Rays. The veteran right-hander has been on the shelf since Aug. 2 with left knee inflammation, but he shouldn't have any workload restrictions after tossing 93 pitches over five scoreless frames in his final rehab start Thursday.
