Fans five in no-decision
Crismatt did not factor into the decision in Sunday's 6-5 loss at Colorado. He allowed one run on three hits and one walk over five innings with five strikeouts.
Analyse
The 30-year-old journeyman impressed in this 62-pitch outing, making his season debut with the Diamondbacks after inking a minor-league deal with the club Aug. 9. Crismatt was making his second career start, with his first coming April 10, 2022 when in San Diego after starter Blake Snell was a late scratch. The right-hander generated 11 whiffs, with the only blemish on his line coming via a single by Orlando Arcia in the fifth. Given this performance, Crismatt should continue to stick in the rotation while Anthony DeSclafani (thumb) remains on the injured list. Crismatt currently lines up to make his next start at home against the Reds next weekend.

Called up for Sunday's start
The Diamondbacks selected Crismatt's contract from Triple-A Reno ahead of his scheduled start Sunday against the Rockies at Coors Field.
Analyse
The right-hander made five relief appearances for the Dodgers earlier this season and will now make the second start of his MLB career. Crismatt allowed just two earned runs over seven innings with Los Angeles and has a 4.04 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 68:25 K:BB in 19 starts at the Triple-A level.

Will be called up to start Sunday
Crismatt is with the Diamondbacks in Colorado and is expected to be added to the 26-man roster to start Sunday, Jose M. Romero of The Arizona Republic reports.
Analyse
Crismatt has worked almost exclusively as a reliever during his time in the majors, but he was a full-time starter with Triple-A Lehigh Valley in the Phillies' system until he was released in early August. Over 19 starts with Lehigh Valley, he posted a 4.04 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 68:25 K:BB over 100.1 innings while averaging over five frames per outing. He went only two innings in his first start with the Diamondbacks' Triple-A club Aug. 13, so he should be relatively fresh Sunday despite having just three days off, and his larger workload while with Lehigh Valley suggests he has built enough of a base to handle a handful of frames. Arizona is in need of a fifth starter after Anthony DeSclafani landed on the injured list due to an injured thumb Wednesday.
