Gives up three runs in loss
Gore (0-1) took the loss Wednesday against the Blue Jays. He allowed three runs on nine hits and two walks while striking out five over five innings.
Analyse
Gore allowed only one hit in his Opening Day start against the Phillies on March 27, but he ran into more trouble Wednesday. Despite generating 18 first-strike calls and 12 whiffs, Gore allowed at least one base runner in four of the five innings he worked, though he managed to limit the damage to three runs as the Blue Jays left eight men on base during his outing. The 26-year-old southpaw will look to earn his first win of the 2025 season in his next start, which is tentatively slated next week at home against the Dodgers.

Dominates with six one-hit innings
Gore didn't factor into the decision Thursday after allowing one hit over six scoreless innings during a loss to the Phillies. He struck out 13 without walking a batter.
Analyse
It was a brilliant showing by the southpaw, whose dominance notably came against a star-studded Phillies lineup. A Kyle Schwarber single in the second inning would end up spoiling what was an otherwise perfect outing from Gore, who starts his third full major-league season looking to take a big step forward. Per Chad Jennings of The Athletic, Hall of Famer Bob Gibson is the only other pitcher in MLB history to strike out at least 13 batters on Opening Day without giving up a run or issuing a walk.
