Getting second opinion on forearm
Dobbins will receive a second opinion on his injured right forearm Tuesday, Brenden Schaeffer of MLB.com reports.
Analyse
Dobbins landed on the 15-day injured list last week and remains shut down due to inflammation around his right flexor tendon. It's possible the injury will prevent Dobbins from making it back this season, but more should be known about his status following Tuesday's exam. Dobbins has authored a 3.67 ERA, 1.35 WHIP and 52:24 K:BB over 54 innings covering eight starts and three relief outings for the Cardinals in 2026.

Remains shut down from throwing
Dobbins has passed strength testing but will not resume a throwing program until the soreness in his right forearm goes away, Daniel Guerrero of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
Analyse
Dobbins will also undergo additional testing on his forearm at some point to check his progress. Though the right-hander has been cleared of structural damage, he is dealing with inflammation and discomfort around his flexor tendon. A return before the end of the season for Dobbins has not been ruled out, but it could be a long shot.

Lands on injured list
The Cardinals placed Dobbins on the 15-day injured list Saturday with right forearm tightness.
Analyse
Dobbins' forearm forced him to make an early exit from his start Friday against Philadelphia, and although he hasn't been diagnosed with any sort of structural issue, the Cardinals will give him time to recover on the injured list. Quinn Mathews was recalled from Triple-A in a corresponding move to start Saturday's game.
