Dodges trouble for 11th save
Soto recorded a save against the Athletics on Tuesday, allowing two hits and striking out two batters over one scoreless inning.
Analyse
Pittsburgh took its first lead on a Brandon Lowe solo homer in the top of the ninth inning, and then turned the ball over to Soto to close out the comeback. It wasn't an entirely smooth outing for the left-hander, as he allowed a pair of one-out singles to put the tying and winning runs on base. However, Soto struck out Tyler Soderstrom before getting Jacob Wilson to line out to end the game. Soto picked up his third save over the past seven days and is now 11-for-14 in save chances on the campaign. He's established himself as the Pirates' clear-cut closer and already has his most saves since recording 30 for the Tigers in 2022.

Soto secured the save Saturday against the Marlins, allowing no runs on one hit and no walks in the ninth inning. He struck out one.
Analyse
After giving up five runs over his previous two outings, Soto bounced back nicely Saturday. Dennis Santana opened the year as Pittsburgh's closer but has since dropped into a setup role, leaving Soto as the Pirates' favorite for saves going forward. Through 30.1 innings, Soto has a strong 3.26 ERA, 0.92 WHIP and 35:12 K:BB while converting 10 of his 13 save chances.

Soto secured the save Wednesday against the Dodgers, allowing two runs on two hits and no walks in the ninth inning.
Analyse
Soto served up a two-run home run to Shohei Ohtani, so he needed every bit of the 9-6 lead the Pirates mounted following a late-inning comeback. The 31-year-old left-hander is serving as Pittsburgh's top closer, but he's now given up five runs over his past two outings. Through 29.1 innings, Soto still has a strong 3.38 ERA, 0.92 WHIP and 34:12 K:BB while converting nine of his 12 save chances.
