Analyse
According to Jon Heyman of the New York Post, Scott's hip issue isn't believed to be serious, which should give the right-hander a chance at returning from the IL around when he's first eligible June 27. The loss of Scott will still force the Mets to add two new members to the rotation this week, with Tobias Myers already having been recalled from Triple-A Syracuse to fill one of the openings during Monday's series opener in Cincinnati. Though it's unclear when Scott sustained the injury, the Mets believe that the 27-year-old righty is dealing with a minor concern. In any case, the loss of Scott further depletes the Mets' rotation depth and will require the team to add another pitcher to the mix Tuesday, when Scott had been scheduled to start against the Reds. If he isn't needed in relief of starter Tobias Myers in Monday's series opener, David Peterson could be a leading candidate to take Scott's spot in the rotation. Scott did not factor into the decision in the Mets' 5-4 win over the Cardinals on Wednesday, giving up four runs on seven hits and a walk over 4.2 innings. He struck out six.

Scott struggled to keep the ball in the park Wednesday -- he surrendered four runs on three homers in the first two innings. Coming into the day, Scott had given up just one home run this season and none in his previous starts (29.2 innings) leading up to Wednesday, so the long ball isn't a major concern despite New York's power display. The right-hander now sports a 3.10 ERA with a 1.35 WHIP and 47:19 K:BB across 40.2 innings this season. Scott is tentatively lined up to face the Reds on the road in his next outing.
