Goes 4.2 innings vs. Boston
Miller did not factor into the decision Wednesday against the Red Sox, allowing a run on seven hits and a walk across 4.2 innings. He struck out three.
Analyse
After he was demoted to the bullpen last week, the right-hander quickly rejoined the M's starting rotation after Emerson Hancock (groin) landed on the IL. Miller was limited to 65 pitches Wednesday, as he managed to work his way through traffic to hold Boston to one run. Overall, it was a step in the right direction for Miller, who struggled to a 9.00 ERA across 20 frames in his previous four starts. He'll carry a 4.01 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 95:26 K:BB into his next outing, tentatively scheduled to come at home against the Rangers.

Re-entering Mariners' rotation
Miller will rejoin the Mariners' rotation following the injury to Emerson Hancock (adductor), Daniel Kramer of MLB.com reports.
Analyse
Miller did not make any relief appearances after manager Dan Wilson announced last week that the righty would be demoted to the bullpen, and he's now re-entering the rotation. The right-hander has posted a 7.18 ERA and 27:16 K:BB across 36.1 frames since the All-Star break. Miller will start Wednesday's game in Boston.

Demoted to bullpen
Mariners manager Dan Wilson said Friday that Miller is being moved to the bullpen, Daniel Kramer of MLB.com reports.
Analyse
The club had been operating with a six-man rotation since the promotion of top prospect Kade Anderson but will revert to a typical five-man setup. Miller collected a 2.18 ERA and 65:9 K:BB over 57.2 innings in the first half, but he's cratered in the second half with a 7.18 ERA and 27:16 K:BB across 36.1 frames. In Miller's last four outings, the Mariners were outscored 62-7. Wilson noted Friday that Miller's demotion is "not a permanent thing," and that the team still views the hurler as a starter long-term.
