He was the only Blue Jay to record multiple hits on the night, as Toronto managed only five knocks in total. Gimenez appears set to be an everyday player now that he's back from the injured list, but his value comes from his glove, not his bat -- Wednesday's performance bumped him above a .200 batting average for the first time since April 20.

Gimenez is in the lineup for his defense, not his offense, but he'll need to improve on his .191/.272/.298 slash line for the season if he wants to avoid losing playing time to the red-hot Ernie Clement, who posted a .903 OPS in 23 games while Gimenez was sidelined.

Analyse
Gimenez wound up missing nearly a month of action with a right quad strain, but he's been cleared to return to action after going 2-for-12 in four rehab games. The 26-year-old is sporting just a .577 OPS in 36 contests with the Blue Jays in 2025.

Gimenez has been on the shelf since May 9 due to a right quad strain, but after completing a four-game rehab assignment at Single-A Dunedin last week while going 2-for-12 with a 2:1 BB:K, he looks like he'll be ready to rejoin the Blue Jays ahead of their six-game week. The 26-year-old should settle back in as Toronto's everyday second baseman, which could result in the hot-hitting Ernie Clement shifting over to third base and Addison Barger moving to right field.
