Analyse
Durant struggled from the field for most of Sunday's game, but he still made his impact felt offensively with a team-high eight assists, his most in a game since Jan. 1 against the Nets (11). Durant connected on two free throws in the final minute of the fourth quarter, and in doing so, he passed Dirk Nowitzki for sixth on the NBA's all-time scoring list. Durant sits at 31,562 points for his storied career in the Association, and next up on the list is Michael Jordan at 32,292 points.

Analyse
Durant caught fire from beyond the arc and tied Julius Randle for the game-best mark in points, though it was the former who led his team to a win. Durant's 39 points set a new season high, and he has reached the 30-point threshold in 14 of his 37 regular-season appearances. The superstar also led the Rockets in assists, dishing out at least seven dimes for the third time this month. Additionally, the veteran forward matched the game high in steals and has recorded multiple swipes in back-to-back appearances for just the second time this season.

Analyse
Durant struggled to get in a groove offensively and managed to lead the Rockets in scoring only due to sheer volume. Thursday marked the first time since Dec. 11 that he's been held under 20 points, which speaks to the tear that he's been on for the last month or so. Durant was also more active on the defensive end, tying his season high in steals after failing to record a swipe in his previous nine games.

Analyse
Durant, Amen Thompson and Alperen Sengun were the only players to post double-digit scoring totals in the loss. Although the Rockets are 5-5 over the last 10 games and getting decent production from Durant every night, they've recently fallen to inferior teams and struggle to sustain leads. Despite the issues, Durant is off to a good start in 2026, averaging 28.7 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 5.3 assists over six games.
