However, not everything went well, with the 24-year-old committing eight turnovers, nearly as many as he had in the first two contests of the series combined. Cunningham was quiet by his standards through the first three quarters of play, but he stepped up down the stretch. The star guard erupted for 12 points in the final six minutes, which included a pair of key treys to help Detroit get out to a 2-0 lead in the series. Cunningham has put up 20-plus points in each of the first two games of the Eastern Conference Semifinals, and he's also recorded a pair of steals in each appearance.

Cunningham struggled with efficiency from the field but made the most of his trips to the charity stripe, finishing with a team-high 23 points in Detroit's critical Game 1 victory. The star guard has now scored at least 20 points in all eight of the Pistons' playoff games in 2026 after turning in a strong first-round series against the Magic, during which he averaged 32.4 points, 7.1 assists and 5.7 rebounds while shooting 46.2 percent from the field and 39.6 percent from beyond the arc across seven contests. Cunningham continuing to produce, particularly with greater efficiency than Tuesday, will be key as Detroit looks to take a commanding 2-0 series lead Thursday.

Análisis
Cunningham stuffed the stat sheet in the first six games of this series and certainly carried that momentum into Game 7 by leading the Pistons in scoring and handing out a team-high 12 assists as well. With the win, Detroit advances to the Eastern Conference Semifinals to meet Toronto or Cleveland.
