Traded to Mavericks
Johnson is being sent to the Mavericks on Wednesday as part of the Anthony Davis (finger) deal, Shams Charania of ESPN reports. Khris Middleton, Malaki Branham and Marvin Bagley will join Johnson in Dallas, while Davis, D'Angelo Russell (illness), Jaden Hardy and Dante Exum (knee) move to Washington. The Mavericks also received two first-round picks and three second-round picks.
Análisis
Johnson will add some depth to Dallas' backcourt, where he'll compete for minutes with the likes of Branham, Max Christie, Caleb Martin and Klay Thompson. Johnson has shown some flashes this season, but it's unclear how he'll factor into Jason Kidd's rotation, so managers in most leagues can watch this situation develop from the waiver wire. Steps up in win
Johnson supplied 17 points (7-13 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 1-2 FT), one rebound, four assists and one steal in 27 minutes during Sunday's 116-112 victory over Sacramento.
Análisis
Johnson saw his first action since Jan. 16 and didn't disappoint on the offensive end. He set a new season high by dropping 17 points, and he did so in an efficient manner. Johnson has yet to see this type of usage on a nightly basis, so while it's nice to see him have a breakout game, he's yet to carve out a consistent role in the team's rotation to this point.
