Quick hook in no-decision
Megill came away with a no-decision in Wednesday's 8-3 win over the Red Sox, giving up three runs on five hits and a walk over four-plus innings. He struck out three.
Análisis
The Mets handed the right-hander a four-run lead in the bottom of the first inning on a Jesse Winker grand slam, but he nearly squandered it in the third. When Megill then gave up a leadoff single to begin the fifth, manager Carlos Mendoza went to his bullpen. Megill hasn't pitched terribly since rejoining the big-league rotation at the end of August, posting a 3.86 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 9:2 K:BB in 9.1 innings over two outings, but he's likely headed to the bullpen with Paul Blackburn (hand) on track to return early next week.

Fans six in third win
Megill (3-5) picked up the win in Friday's 5-1 win over the White Sox, allowing one run on five hits and a walk over 5.1 innings. He struck out six.
Análisis
Making his first big-league start since July 31, Megill got the softest possible opponent in the White Sox, but he still took advantage to record his first MLB win since June 16. With Paul Blackburn (hand) sidelined into September and Christian Scott (elbow) just beginning to ramp back up, Megill figures to get at least one more start for the Mets as they try to stay in the wild-card race. The right-hander will take a 4.82 ERA, 1.39 WHIP and 61:23 K:BB through 52.1 innings into his next outing, which is scheduled to come at home next week against the Red Sox.

Officially called up for start
The Mets recalled Megill from Triple-A Syracuse to start Friday's game against the White Sox.
Análisis
As expected, Megill will fill Paul Blackburn's (hand) vacated spot in the rotation and face off against the White Sox. In his last three starts in Syracuse, Megill has a 4.15 ERA with a 21:5 K:BB across 17.1 innings. He's logged a 5.17 ERA in 10 appearances (nine starts) with the Mets in 2024.
